MISENHEIMER Artist Nathaniel Hester's "Recent Paintings and Prints," will be on display through Sept. 21 in the Pfeiffer University Grace and Cameron West Art Gallery located in Goode Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

Hester's current exhibit is a combined medium display. His work "Ship of Fools: Portrait of a Confederate Navy" is a suite of 100 oil paintings of various sizes that use unique shapes, jeweled surfaces, rich tones, and a luminous palette to explore the cruelty and beauty of 19th- century maritime warfare.

His second featured series "Stone in Aberdaron" comprises 25 etchings that illustrate a bird's eye perspective from the Charles River Bridge in Boston, Mass.

A native of Durham, Hester's work has been widely exhibited, collected and published across the country. He earned his BA from Rice University and MFA from Boston University. He and his wife live on a ninth- generation family tobacco farm in Person County.

The gallery's hours are from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
